Key Conventions of
Music Magazine
Colour
scheme is usually red and black as they are seen as stereotypical masculine
colours. These colours are seen as passionate and strong, something which will
provide energy to the audience.
The masthead
for Q is always situated in the top left hand corner. It isn’t always on show
which isn’t a problem because it’s always located in the same place therefore
the readers know which magazine they’re buying. It is in a bold font, and the
colours used are red and white making the font stand out to the reader.
There is
usually a current artist as the main image of the magazine, used to attract the
readers. It is usually an attractive
female used to attract male attention. The fact Cheryl Cole is wearing red
lipstick and licking her lip’s is used to show passion and danger, which would
appeal to a male audience.
There are
some other artists/bands name written on the left hand side of the magazine
used to also entice other readers as it suggest there will be articles about
them in the magazine.
The barcode
is typically located at the bottom right hand corner of a magazine, however
this magazine’s broken away from that stereotype by placing it below the
masthead.
